Lliteras to Join Wolfpack Next Semester

By Lee Michaelson

Kelsie Lliteras has officially joined the Wolfpack program, North Carolina State head women’s basketball coach Kellie Harper announced Saturday.

Lliteras, a 6-4 forward from Chadron, Nebraska, was a preseason Sporting News honorable mention All-American heading into her senior year at Chadron High School, and averaged 16.1 points and 10.0 rebounds per game in her final prep season. Lliteras capped her senior year by being named Class C-1 first-team all-state by the Lincoln Journal-Star and the Associated Press, and she was first-team all-conference.

As a junior, she was named honorable mention all-state after averaging 13.7 points and 8.9 rebounds, while shooting 45.1 from the field and 69.8 percent from the free-throw line. She set game highs with 28 points against Bayard and 17 rebounds against Sidney.

Lliteras signed her National Letter of Intent in November of 2008 during the early signing period along with freshman teammate Marissa Kastanek. Lliteras played three years of AAU ball with Kastanek, the Wolfpack’s current leading scorer at 11.1 points per game.

However, Lliteras enrolled part-time at Durham Technical Community College this past semester. She will begin classes at North Carolina State during the upcoming spring semester.

“We’re thrilled to finally have Kelsie join our program,” said Harper. “She did what she had to do in the classroom to get to this point and we’re excited what she will bring to our team the next four years.”
