The Missouri State women’s basketball team expects to be without the services of Whitney Edie for the next two to four weeks due to a third metatarsal fracture in the freshman guard’s left foot, the program announced today.
Edie initially sustained the injury during the Lady Bears’ shoot-around prior to their December 22 game at SIU Edwardsville, and a Missouri State team physician confirmed the fracture on Monday.
The 6-1 guard, an Exeter, Missouri, product, finished her high school career as the No. 9 scorer in Missouri girls’ basketball history, with 2,792 points to her credit. Edie was the second guard off the bench in each of Missouri State’s first 11 games of the season, averaging 5.0 points and 2.1 rebounds in 13.4 minutes per contest.
The Lady Bears are 8-3 and set to begin Missouri Valley Conference play against Bradley on New Year’s Eve.
