Penn State Upsets No. 18 Pittsburgh

In its first win over a ranked opponent since Dec. 2, 2007 (against then-No. 11 Duke), Penn State upset No. 18 Pittsburgh, 77-73, handing them their first loss of the season today. Lions’ senior Tyra Grant notched her 1600th career point and became Penn State’s eighth-ranked career scorer on the way a season-high 27 points in the win. Grant has reached double-digits in each of her last 22 games
Fellow senior Meredith Monroe also turned in an outstanding performance, posting her first career double-double with career bests of 14 points and 13 rebounds. Monroe was 5-for-8 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line.
Penn State improved to 7-3 overall (0-1 in conference), while Pittsburgh drops to 8-1.
